Note: Classes do not include lodging or meals. - Make Your First Bullwhip (Beginner) This is a 3-4 day class where you will learn all of the basic techniques of whipmaking. You will be taken through a 4 foot 8 plait bullwhip with one 4 plait belly. Price - $1,550 - Make Your First Short Signal/Snake Whip (Beginner) This is a 3-4 day class where you will learn all of the basic techniques of making a signal or snake whip that is 3 or 4 feet long. Price - $1,550 - Make Your Own Indy Whip (Intermediate) This is a 4 day class where you will make a 6 foot Indy style bullwhip, and includes all of the techniques specific to the Indiana Jones Style bullwhip. Double plaited belly whip, with 12 plait overlay. Price - $2,575 - Make A Fancy Whip (Advanced) This is a 3-7 day class where you have your choice to learn to make a fancy Bullwhip, Stockwhip, Snake whip, or Signal whip in 16 plait fine grade kangaroo hide at any length. You will learn advanced plaiting techniques involving plaiting with finer strands, as well as plaiting patterns, and tying fancier knots. This class is fully customizable to what you wish to acomplish. This class is only available for those who have taken previous classes, and their ability is beyond the beginner. Price varies, starting at - $1,750 All classes can be
customized specifically to your needs.

Online Classes Available Soon! The online classes will range from simple care and maintenence of your whip, beggining whipcracking lessons, and simple plaiting projects. This will be done through yahoo messanger using webcam, pictures, and microphone. |

Class Overview:
In the whipmaking classes you will learn all of the techniques necessary to make your own whip from hide to finish.  You will learn to cut to a taper, and prepare your strands, including paring and beveling strands by hand.  You will work one on one, and learn to braid bellies, and plait an overlay side by side with MidWestWhipmakers.  You will have the opportunity to ask all questions directly to the whipmaker as they come up during the learning process, as well as having the unique ability to see how professional whipmakers work. Your techniques will be closely observed as to help you avoid learning any bad habits from the start.  When your class is complete you will have a
high quality kangaroo hide whip that was made under the direct
instruction of a proffessional using the exact same techniques as the
the best whipmakers in the world, and made with your own two hands.
 At the end of the class, both you and the instructor will go over the details of your finished whip, and discuss which techniques need to be improved apon, as well as which techniques you are proficient with, so you will be ready to continue working on your skills on your own. What
your class includes:
- All leather and materials
needed during the class.
